About Us

My Story

PLEASE NOTE THAT I CANNOT GUARANTEE DELIVERY BEFORE XMAS.

ORDERS ARE POSTED 2ND CLASS SIGNED FOR BY ROYAL MAIL AND THEY ARE CURRENTLY ADVISING TEN WORKING DAYS FOR DELIVERIES

My name is Sam Keay and I originate from Cumbria, I have been living on my narrowboat for 14 years and I travel around the UK canal network trading at festivals, events & pop ups.

My love of the countryside & foraging is rooted in my childhood, we spent many summer days blackberry picking, scrumping apples, and helping my mum make homemade jam, wine, gin and any other scrumptious things we could think of!

100% Delicious Produce

As much as possible, the produce used is foraged from the countryside and towpath as we chug around the country. I welcome produce exchange and many customers or passing walkers bring me their fruit and veg in exchange for some of my spirits & preserves .

If neither of these are possible I source produce that is local and organic. For this reason I have a limited stock of some produce until the next season comes around.

Committed to Quality

I take pride in making tasty and fresh products and I want you to enjoy them and feel fully satisfied.

If you have any questions about us, our products, or where we'll be next, please get in touch! Likewise, if you have any custom requests don't hesitate to let us know.

Devizes Marina helped me massively in the process of getting my premises licence, they selflessly gave a small business a big hand up, so thank you and folks if you're down that way go and say hello and hire a boat for the day or week.

Read - Boat traders in The Guardian!

“Cake on the Cut is run by Sam Keay on a narrowboat called Squox and Botter. Not only is it a fantastic cafe boat selling lots of yummy cakes and treats, she makes and sells Gangplank Spirits and Preserves which are produced with foraged fruit and herbs. Super tasty! A friendly trader with a very unusual paint job on her narrowboat – both sides are different and depict scenes of nature. She always sets up her roaming cafe with lots of cute tables, chairs, flowers and sometimes hammocks.”
